STATEMENT

I intend to create a sense of curiosity through the manipulation of mundane objects and materials. Mass-produced, anonymous objects are often rendered dysfunctional caricatures of themselves. My intent is to blur distinctions between the absurd and the mundane by creating or accentuating subtleties, whilst addressing concepts of purpose and futility.

I hold the belief that the environment in which a work exists becomes integral to the work itself. Consequently, the work I make or select for show tends to become site-responsive, exploring ideas of locality and displacement.

CURRENT

Currently resident at Bates Mill, Huddersfield.

Centrifuge began with a trip to Documenta 12 in August 2007 and is a collaborative project with 20 North England based artists, Dirk Fleishmann, Imogen Stidworthy and The Salford Restoration Office.

I am co-founder and co-director of Manchester based artist collective Contents May Vary co-organising and co-curating exhibitons. I instigated Contents May Vary Publications and co-edited Issue I. We will be working with Castlefield Gallery Project Space in 2008.

I will also be working on Calderdale’s Cultural Strategy in 2008
