Group of young Düsseldorf artists who proclaimed a starting point of zero, metaphorically distancing themselves from the sins of the fathers and celebrating the dawn of a new age. Piene and his colleague Heinz Mack invited artists like Günther Uecker to exhibit in their studio, and the three friends became the founding fathers of the Zero NUL

movement, which would soon reach out to embrace artists throughout Europe. nul = 0: The Dutch Nul Group in an International Context.
