Celeste Prize, artists and art

Celeste Prize is an annual, international contemporary arts prize, open to all artists without limits of age, sex or profession. In 2010 there are 40,000 € awards in five prize categories: Painting (8,000 €); Photography & Digital Graphics (8,000 €); Video & Animation (8,000 €); Installation, Sculpture & Performance (8,000 €); and Live Media (8,000 €). The prize is particularly attractive to artists because the 50 finalist artists themselves vote the prize money according to the majority principle (who receives most votes wins the prizes). In 2009, nearly 1,500 artists worldwide presented a work to the prize.

celeste prize

Celeste Prize is organised by an Italian non-profit cultural association called ‘Associazione Culturale L’Albero Celeste’ founded by Steven Music in 2004. The association promotes the work of international artists via ‘Celeste Prize’, an online network celesteprize.com which supports artists who participate in the prize, exhibitions and catalogue publication. A similar prize is organised in Italy called ‘Premio Celeste’ with its own supporting website premioceleste.it. Celeste has organised exhibitions around the world from Berlin (Germany) to Miami (USA), from Milano (Italy) to London (UK).
