Introduction

Design or more particularly, graphic design, is a methodology of visual communication. It uses various methods to create a visual representation of ideas and messages. It may use words, images, and symbols one at time or all at the same time. Graphic designers, on the other hand, add typography, page layout, and visual arts in creating their final artwork.

History

Although graphic design is regarded as a highly modern concept, it was first established in 1922 by William Addison Dwiggins. Even so, it was observed that this type of artwork has been around since the days of the cavemen and the regime of the Roman Empire. Designs are currently seen everywhere, from road signs to office memorandums. Right now, it is widely used in selling products and ideas via effective visual communication. The concept of design translated to artworks is at times, too broad to define. It encompasses architectural design, engineering drawings, product and process design, advertising layouts, and more. Famous Artists

Some of the famous artists in the field of architectural design are Alvar Aalto, Tadao Ando, Alberto Campo Baeza, Luis Barragan, John Pawson, Antoine Predock, Claudio Silvestrin, Alvaro Siza Viera, Vincent Van Duysen, and Peter Zumthor. In graphic design, one famous artist is Otl Aicher, who was the one who made the 1972 Olympics poster. Then there’s also Donald Judd, Sol Lewitt, and Tony Smith, among many others. On the other hand, Salvador Dali also dabbled with furniture design and he called his work the Leda Table. Joining him in this field are A.G. Fronzoni and Tokujin Yoshioka.
