Artists do not only make their mark in the arts but their works has significant value in history and society as well. There are many artists that walked this lifetime and there are those whose art pieces made a very significant value to what we now know today as fine art. Here are the most popular artists of all time.

1. Leonardo Da Vinci

Not only is he an artist, he is also one of the greatest thinkers of the world. He is also a philosopher and a scientist in varied fields. He is from Florence and one of his greatest works is the mysterious and world-famous Mona Lisa which can now be viewed in Louvre, Paris.

2. Vincent Van Gogh

This artist is a great player and influencer of today’s modern art. He is an impressionist painter but has his own distinct style. He is from Holland and has a very tragic life; he once shot himself, which then caused his death two years later. Some of his prime works are The Starry Night, Café Terrace at Night and Sunflowers.

3. Rembrandt

Rembrandt Van Rijn

Rembrandt is from the Netherlands and has been one of the top painters during the Dutch Golden Age. Having had four children who died in their infancy and his wife dying after ten years of marriage, his works depict the different happiness and tragedies of life. His notable works are Dutch Master, The Storm of the Sea Galilee and the Jewish Bride.

Michael Angelo lived in Caprese and belonged to one of the important families in Florentine. He is both a painter and a sculptor. He is known for his religious artworks including the Pieta and the life size sculpture of David. One of his famous works is the mural. The Creation of Adam, at the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

Claude Monet is one of the most popular impressionists of his time. He has a very unique style and mainly works with urban scenes. A lot of his works are inspired by his own formal garden. Some of this Frenchman’s notable works are Impression Sunrise, Women in Garden and Water lilies.

This Spanish artists is one of the most valuable artists of the 20th century. He is the founder of cubism and have many skills such as sculpting, poetry and ceramics. He has begun creating works of art at the age of 14. Some of his world famous art pieces are the Bird of Peace and Guernica.

Raphael is one of the greatest artists of the Renaissance period alongside Da Vinci and Michael Angelo. He has created tons of religious art pieces and the even the Pope himself invited him to Rome to do art commissions. He is known for painting Mond Crucifixion and The Wedding of the Virgin.

8. Pierre Auguste Renoir

Auguste is another impressionist that made his mark during the Italian Renaissance period. He studied at the Ecole Des Beaux Arts. Among his great works are On the Terrace and Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette.

9. Jan Vermeer

Paul Cezane has French origin but pursued his study and art career in Paris where he met his master and mentor, Camilla Pissaro. He is an impressionist painter whose famous works include The Card Players and Still Life with a Curtain.
