Young began painting seriously in 1963, and by 1967 had developed his "dot" style of painting. Despite the relatively meticulous nature of these works Young was very productive and exhibted widely; in New York at Leo Castelli and Noah Goldowsky/Richard Bellamy galleries, and at Nicholas Wilder Gallery, Los Angeles and Galerie Ricke in Cologne, Germany…
Peter Young was born on 2 January 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Los Angeles. He moved to New York in 1960 to study art history at New York University and began painting full-time after he graduated in 1963.
