In the mid-sixties she focused on minimalist and abstract forms in her paintings, which Lozano consistently continued to develop from her tool motifs. These works finally led to the large format Wave series of paintings, which she worked on between 1967 and 1970. In the late sixties the artist became increasingly disillusioned with the commercial art world and her last work Drop Out Piece [ 1969-1970 ] marks her gradual withdrawal from the New York art scene. In the end she decided not to speak anymore to women, a radical decision, which is a criticism of both the art world and the social system.
