"AMERIKA"

Kristina Leko, from Croatia, is the first artist to participate in the SCCA project AT FIRST SIGHT. During her stay in Sarajevo at the beginning of 2001, she produced a series of 12 video works under the title SARAJEVO INTERNATIONAL. During the nineties, many Sarajevans left the town. Kristina Leko developed her video project starting from the question: “Who came to live in Sarajevo?”

The picture of the three protagonists builds on the portraiture of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The woman and the three men, each with a series of attributes from their private and professional lives, emerge from the anonymity of an old people’s home…
