Carlos Botelho started his comic career coloring Cottinelli’s ‘Pirilau’-comics in ABC-Zinho. Later on, Carlos Botelho produced his own comics for ABC-Zinho, like ‘Punchos de Bronze’ and ‘Les Aventuras do Zuncha, artista de Circo’. This last story is considered a masterpiece of early Portuguese comics, not only for its balanced use of word balloons, but also for its quick narrative style.
Although he was a very successful comic artist, Botelho is probably better known for his paintings.
