Bruce’s’ legendary "experimental" films are well known for their pioneering use of found footage, so it was natural that we approach him regarding the possibility of working together- which was more like suggesting he use some of the Bush of Ghosts tracks in a film or two, due to the similarities of our working methods…
DOUBLE ANGEL is derived from the 6 15/16 × 8 7/16 inch paper collage of the same name by Bruce Conner, dated April 2, 1991. The collage was scanned and digitally edited by Bruce Conner and Donald Farnsworth at Magnolia Editions in Oakland, CA. The weave file was created by Donald Farnsworth using techniques developed by Donald Farnsworth and John Nava. It was woven on a Jacquard loom in Belgium with cotton threads…
Bruce Conner is a key experimental filmmaker and assemblage artist…
Interview with the artist
Conner was a major proponent of the California Assemblage movement. He shunned the use of conventional art materials in favor of discarded objects.
