Assignment: National Payroll Week 2012 artwork commission. Client: The American Payroll Association (APA) (www.americanpayroll.org). APA is a national nonprofit association representing more than 22,000 professionals in payroll and finance. Reach: Artwork will be used in 2012 marketing and promotional materials for APA’s National Payroll Week public awareness campaign. Artwork Focus/Concept: APA’s annual public awareness campaign National Payroll Week celebrates the efforts of America’s payroll professionals who calculate the paychecks of America’s workers and collect the taxes that fund America’s civic and social programs. The artwork should convey the idea that payroll professionals and America’s workers work together to ensure the American way of life. The artist should effectively illustrate their own interpretation of the life, community, togetherness, etc. created by paychecks and taxes. Examples of elements that are generally included: workers of all races/ethnicities, America (patriotism), symbol for money/prosperity. Note: We want to encourage your creative interpretation of our NPW campaign themes. Please view these elements as only examples, not as items that must be included. Artwork style/technique: Each artist should choose the style and technique they feel best fits their artistic vision and concept.
Preliminary request: Interested parties should provide APA samples of their artwork (photo copies, regular photos, e-mailed jpeg photos, or Web site links are acceptable) and a rough sketch, if possible, of how they intend to approach the artwork as detailed above. A written explanation of materials and technique to be used, as well as your personal vision of how you’d like to tackle the concept, is also acceptable in place of a rough sketch. APA would like to receive these materials no later than Nov. 18, 2011. ______________________________________________________________________________ Should you be commissioned as our 2012 NPW artist, you will need to bear the following in mind: Due Date for final piece: Dec. 19, 2011 Stipulations: Artist agrees to grant APA full permission and unlimited use of artwork for all media and promotional materials for a minimum of two years. Artist agrees APA has full permission to manipulate artwork as necessary for same purposes and time frame. Artist may retain copyright of work. Full credit will be awarded to artist alongside the artwork on the NPW homepage. In addition, a short biography of the artist will accompany the artwork on the NPW homepage, which is advertised in all NPW materials.
