ARTISSIMA 18: PRESENT FUTURE
The section dedicated to the international emerging art: a successful collaboration between illycaffè and Artissima
Once again the long-standing collaboration between illycaffè and Artissima has renewed itself for the eleventh year in a row in Present Future, the special section of the exhibition dedicated to the international emerging art, a well-established platform to launch the last generation talents.
Halfway between a collective and a number of one-man exhibitions, the 2011 edition of Present Future proposes a group of artists from different countries, chosen by a Committee of curators made of Chris Fitzpatrick, Christophe Gallois, Antonia Majaca and Luigi Fassi (coordinator).
The 16 invited artists will be presented by the respective galleries within the Exhibition in a dedicated space. The works exhibited at Present Future, after a long and close collaboration and exchange of ideas between artists and curators, include new proposals made ad hoc for this occasion, along with new projects shown for the first time in Italy and in Europe.
During Artissima, a jury made of international museum directors and curators, among whom Anne Ellegood, Tessa Giblin and Beatrix Ruf, will award the Eleventh Present Future illy Prize to the most significant project.
The winner will receive 10,000.00 euro cash, and the chance to present his/her project for the Artist “illy Art Collection” coffee cups.
illycaffè active commitment to spread contemporary art dates back to twenty years ago, when it started to support international artists and exhibitions. Its commitment is well embodied by the Present Future illy Prize, which has become in these years a breeding ground for talents. And the very names of the artists who won in the past editions and have now reached international celebrity - Phil Collins, Mateo Tannatt, Patricia Esquivias, Luca Francesconi, Shizuka Yokomizo, Padraig Timoney, Michael Beutler, and Melanie Gilligan – confirm this outstanding achievement.
